Hello to everyone,

Things are moving forward on the 2008 Library GO Bond effort.

I will be making a brief presentation to the Legislative Education Study Committee in a week and a half. That presentation will contain a request for LESC support for libraries to be a part of the 2008 statewide GO Bond election in November 2008.

We will be asking for a total of $40M in the 2008 Library GO Bond.

The presentation to LESC is scheduled for 4PM, Thursday, November 15 at the Capitol in Santa Fe. The meeting is usually in Room 300. I will confirm this and send the room number after the agenda is posted.

The presentation will only be five minutes but it is a very important five minutes for all of us. If you would like to attend, be watching your mail for more particulars.

This year's push is critical. We will need to contact our legislators and you will need to encourage other librarians, library supporters and friends and family to do the same. Ben Wakashige and I have met and are beginning a core list of library contacts around the state. If you know of someone in any part of NM who we could use as a contact to send information to for dissemination please let either Ben, Joe or me know.

More information will follow.

Thanks in advance for all of your interest, support and your work on these issues already. We are just getting started.

We have a great opportunity ahead of us this year as Rep. Ed Sandoval (ABQ) is already working hard on our behalf. There is a chance we will be up for more money in the 2008 GO Bond election than we have seen in the last two.

Let's continue our efforts and see how successful we can be!
