Welcome to "Bonds for Libraries" 2008

This web site keeps New Mexico’s librarians and library supporters up to date on the 2008 GO Bond for library books and materials:

THANKS...We did it! - more info to come...

Acknowledgement of contributors to Bonds for Libraries 2008 PAC We want to thank all of those who contributed in one way or another to the Bonds for Libraries committee's efforts in working to pass the 2008 GO Bond B. Those contributions ranged from buying a bumper sticker to underwriting the web site and sponsoring radio spots.

Organizations which contributed are New Mexico Library Association, New Mexico Consortium of Academic Libraries, Friends for the Public Library of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County, Friends of the Library of Rio Rancho, Farmington Public Library Foundation, Colinas del Norte Elementary School PTA, Santa Clara Pueblo, Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library, Pueblo of Acoma, Friends of the Roswell Library, Friends of the Mesa Library, Friends of the Carlsbad Public Library, Acoma Learning Center, Jemez Community Library, Native American Libraries SIG, Friends of the Belen Public Library, Laguna Library and Friends of the Clovis-Carver Library.

Two library vendors helped support the website and purchase radio spots, respectively: Michael Kocurek from Follett Library Resources and David McPhee of Mackin Library and Classroom Services.

Many individuals contributed from $10 to $100 to meet the $1,000 challenges of Joe Sabatini and David Giltrow. Others, who donated over $100, are Kathryn Sherlock, Allen Stenger, and Cassandra Osterloh.

We also want to thank Patty Watson, Phyllis Baker, Eric Martinez, and Suzanne Smith of Cooney, Watson and Associates for their patience and professional assistance in maximizing modest resources.

Many of you complimented us on our web pages and we are grateful to Devon Skeele for her design and maintenance of the site.

We had the sustained advice and counsel of NMLA Legislative Committee co-chairs, Joe Sabatini and Cynthia Shetter, and NMCAL Legislative Committee chair Ruben Aragon. Various other public, academic, tribal and school librarians who served on the 2008 GO Bond Steering Committee also provided valuable advice and support. And we acknowledge all those librarians who worked in their communities doing the hard, often tedious, work which goes into passing bond issues to help maintain their libraries.

The 2008 Bonds for Libraries political action committee consisted of Omar Durant, David Giltrow, Linda O'Connell, Kathryn Sherlock, and Ben Wakashige.

“Bonds for Libraries” is a registered political action committee. For more information on the PAC, and to provide your ideas and suggestions to strengthen the campaign, please contact us. For more>
